Northern Argentina Salta and Jujuy
This region is still a hidden corner. It offers great panoramas of the barren Andes that in some areas hove the most unusual colours due to the minerals contained in the rocks.
In contrast we find fertile irrigated valleys, beautiful villages with small churches and haciendas that bring back memories of the Spanish colonial times. The locals in most rural areas are of Indian origin. Their costumes and textiles add beautiful colours to the landscape.
Among the attractions in the area, we can name the Hurnahuaca Valley with its numerous picturesque villages, the train to the clouds, the Calchaquie Valley with the most impressive rock formations and los Cardones National Park with its gigantic cacti. The city of Salta has a wonderful provincial atmosphere and many historic buildings. |
